The idea so far..

Having order some of the key parts yesterday I thought today would be a good time to get the rough plan in my head down on paper.

So the idea so far goes something like this: At the very front of the bike where the derailleur is located will be a pair of lights, these will have a wide area oval optics and used for close up. These will be for spotting pot holes, curb’s and the like.

On both the left and right handle bars there will a single pencil beam light. These are for spotting things in the distance. Being attached to the handlebars these will track around corners as i turn into them. Also on one of the handle bars will be located a switch assembly, containing a dimmer knob and on/off switch for the different types of lights.

All of this will connect back to a box located in the rear of the bike hosing the led drivers, batteries and batteries charger. The weight of the charger is so minimal that I decided to include this in the box for neatness.

So the idea is that there will be no messy single battery cells to pull out and charge, but rather the whole back box will be able to be removed from the bike and charged using an AC power brick (think laptop charger).

I’m still deciding on what high power LED drivers to use but have already settled on NiMh batteries and the design of a charger.
